The process began with the removal of all of the wood trim, light fixtures, old plumbing and doors. All of the trim and doors will be refinished and replaced later in the project so everything from each room is bundled and tagged. |
Everything will be stored under the building until needed. |
The pocket doors may be able to be repaired and refinished in place. |
Originally built in 1909, all of the walls and ceilings were constructed using wooden lath that was covered with plaster and then painted. All of this must be removed leaving only the structural wood frame. The walls and ceilings will be sheetrocked. |
Once the demolition is complete, all of the electrical and plumbing will be completely redone with central heat and air installed. |
The interior walls seen at left were constructed using the Western framing techniques while the outside walls at right were done in the Balloon framing style. |
In the ceilings and behind the walls, we found "Knob and Tube" style electrical wiring. |
